Edmonson County High School sophomore Ava Kate Lich received some great news last week! Ava Kate was informed of her acceptance into the Gatton Academy at Western Kentucky University! The Gatton Academy admits students from across Kentucky who meet academic and social criteria, including maturity, personality, and individuality. Ava Kate is excited about this opportunity and looking forward to the next steps in her academic studies. If you see Ava Kate, be sure to tell her “Congratulations!”
Several Edmonson County High School students were recognized at the Edmonson County Board of Education Meeting on Monday, March 11, 2019. The areas highlighted were: Governor’s Scholars recognition: Chanley Logsdon, Samuel Treece, and Mollie Cassady; Gatton Academy dual enrolled: Gavin Dooley; DECA State recognition: Macy Cassady; FFA State recognition: Trent Whittle; Beta State recognition: Ava Kate Lich, Isabella Stewart, and Danyale Atwell.
In January 2019, the ECHS math department was awarded $8,000 from a Dart Foundation grant sponsored by Dart Container Corporation. The award was greatly appreciated by teachers and students, and the funds were used for the purchase of two classroom sets of graphing calculators for use by students.
